Course assessment structure, resources, and submission details.
How Allocations Work
Each student is assigned one of three players from the Sandpapergate scenario: Steve Smith, David Warner, or Cameron Bancroft.
Each student is assigned one of two roles: representing the Player (plea of mitigation) or acting as Counsel Assisting (plea of aggravation).
Allocations are individual — you are NOT competing against another student.
Your allocation determines both the factual scenario you work with AND the type of submission you prepare.
Your Personal Allocation
Your personal scenario allocation (player and role) is available on eLearning.
The Three Scenarios
Steve Smith
As captain, Smith was aware of the plan to tamper with the ball and failed to take steps to prevent it.
If assigned this player, you will work from the specific charges, findings, and factors relevant to their role in the incident.
David Warner
Warner was identified as the instigator of the ball-tampering plan and instructed a junior player to carry it out.
If assigned this player, you will work from the specific charges, findings, and factors relevant to their role in the incident.
Cameron Bancroft
Bancroft carried out the physical act of ball-tampering on the field, following instructions from senior players.
If assigned this player, you will work from the specific charges, findings, and factors relevant to their role in the incident.
If you cannot find your allocation or believe there has been an error, please post in the Assessment Forum or contact your lecturer.
